I bought my '03 SVT last May, just before I turned 59. Its not my dream car or anything, but I've been looking at them for years, and when I wanted a cheap main stream practical fun car, I found an excellent one, and paid top dollar for a car that I believe is worth top dollar. ($5,400, or $6,000 minus $600 for the timing belt it was about to need). Its pretty fun, and I like it a lot.

Basically the same for me. I bought my 2005 ST when I was 61 (6 yrs ago). Just wanted a sporty, manual trans, inexpensive toy. I use it when I feel like driving a stick, about 3000 miles a year. I looked at other cars but a low mileage BMW or Mustang was about 15 grand more than the Focus.
