We just got a 2001 Ford Focus from a work buddy of my fiancee and we are having troubles. We are having the following issues with the back lights.

*The parking lights/brake lights are not working
**The hazard lights seem to work just fine
**The turning signal lights light up, but it doesn't matter if we turn the left or the right ones on, both sides turn on at the same time (which makes them look like the hazard lights are on)

If you can help, please, help us. This is supposed to be our second vehicle and we can't drive it until we get this problem fixed.

Also, the previous owner had put in an after market radio and he took it out before he sold us the car, so there isn't currently a radio in it, in case this helps.

At the rear hatch, check the wiring inside the black rubber boot by pulling it back. The wires tend to break at that point.

Thank you.

In looking for that, I was looking around the back hatch area and found a black wire laying there, connected to nothing, on the lower left side and lo and behold that was the problem.

We've been working on this problem for a little over a week now. Such relief!
