wouldnt it sound RASPY without the resonator?, i was going to buy it but... no i hate raspy exhausts

you know.. i changed 1 of my resonators to magnaflow to see what happened and the sound did decrease, but it was a little deeper

anyways what cat do you have?, stock, ORP, HFc? that matters too

I say that flow characteristics are far more important than tone, especially in a nit-picky state like California, you probably just saved yourself a ticket or two.

Mine was louder after a few weeks, I'd say at a month it won't change much anymore. You'll be able to tell. If you wanted "loud", you could have just gotten an ORP, haha. I got the ORP after seeing the stock SVT cat for the first time. After a few months I got really sick of the 2500-3000 rasp, but not wanting to lose the extra flow I was used to, bought a Trubends 2.5" SS kit (Borla muffler, big ol Magnaflow resonator). That quieted things down quite a bit (especially at first), but I'm still pretty annoyed at the drone on the highway. My wife doesn't like it, either, so I am looking into buying a cat to weld into the ORP... just wanna make sure I buy one that will fit (how about this one, what do you guys think? someone measure their ORP, plz). A HFC with full 2.5" ID will definitely flow much better than stock, and definitely sound better than the ORP. At $55, I think it is definitely worth doing.

it looks to me by my measurments, that the ORP, from front flange to the bend in the pipe, is about 12 inches. so I'm not to sure about what you could do about fitting that cat into the pipe itself. maybe if you know how to weld or have a friend that can weld, cut the pipe at the flange, re-weld the flange to the new cat, and modify the rest of the ORP to fit the cat.

Here's a link on how to convert the ORP to HFC. Make sure you use stainless rods to weld it with otherwise it will rust through really fast!
