Well I was going to invest in a cat back to start out with and then when I get the money, get a header. But now I think I might just get the header and hack off my resonator. What do you guys think I should do?

i say do it the right way. because rice gets cooked and eaten. its not supposed to be driven.

if you want a good setup. get a long tube or 4-1 header. zetec off road pipe. 2.5 flexpipe. and a super cool truebends stainless 2.5 inch flowmaster catback.

that might be too loud though. in a bad way (tickets)

and btw that thing in front of the engine is the cat, lol. not a resonator

ok here is what i got 4-2-1 race header, 2.5 in flex and stock exhaust i am getting rid of the first resonator (the one right after the flex) and maybe the lunchbox (the one at the und where the tip it the big box) you can go to youtube and look up lunch box removal or do it on this forum and it sounds good. a catback only gives 2-3 hp on and n/a car and 4-5 on a f/i in my opinion you pay 300+ for some sound. btw my intake is loud too i have a AEM type by factory tuning it is a CAI

I can only afford one right now. I had planned on going with a long tube header. And I meant I am going to cut off the lunchbox at the end of the exhaust not the cat. I won't have a cat after the header install.

if you install a header and eliminate the cat it will be loud even with the last "lunchbox muffler".

I installed a svt header on my car with stock exhaust and it wasnt bad but that is with a svt cat. I dont think the stock exhaust is enough to muffle the engine without a cat.

i am taling about the first resonator not the cat my headers also eliminate the cat. that first resonator broke from all the extra air coming through it and is rattling the video goves a good idea of the sound so i would go off that i dnt think it is rice at all

check my vid it is a AEM CAI hollowed cat , muffler replaced with a two inch cherry bomb to resonate the sound not block it, and i removed my resonator

IMO its nice deep and mellow you hear more noise in your cabin then you do outside the car

ok sir...you are SOOOOOOOOOOO wrong.

catbacks yield more then 2-3hp. quite a bit more actually. they are a good gain for a NON svt car. a 2.5 is a good set up. a borla or magnaflow is always a good option. however to say its for some sound is just ignorant and foolish.

if you did a race header, 2.5 flexpipe, 2.5 exhaust it would wake the car up big time and would make driving a lot more fun.

oh and to badass3...id be willing to bet you 100 bux that you have an exhaust leak where the flexpipe meets the stock exhaust, unless you had it welded on...the size differenze is too much for it not to.

now do yourself a favor and do it right the first time, from the head back.

i had it done at a shop and there is no leaks it is quiet but i can feel the difference. i need the back pressure because i drive an auto, i had the car running a dump for a week and it would not get off the line quick enough, i have been advised by two local shops to stay with the stck exhaust, but to loose the first reonator for a little better flow, i am N/A with only a few bolt ons. this is what i feel works best for me and i am giving my opinion on the subject
