when tuning an exhaust cam gear, if i turn it like 4 degrees retard, what happens, or if i turn it 6 degrees advance, what happens? im not asking for a specific degree, but i am looking to see what happens if i turn it one way or the other. what kind of results can i expect either way? pros, cons? will i screw anything up?

retard means it opens later, advanced means sooner. This is where dyno tuning comes into play so you can make sure it's set correctly.

good luck!

Retard = top end, advnace means more down low. It doesnt ADD power, it just shifts the powerband..

For what its worth, when I was NA, I was set Retard 4*. Now with a turbo its set at 0* til I complete my boost/ tuning, then I'll see what I can get for results.

^ understood, but saying that, does it fall into preference? what if i want more of a low end feel than a top end? even on a dyno, is it preference, or only one way is correct?
