This might be a silly question but were there any aftermarket companies that made a header for the 86-90 Escort GT's?

For the 1st gen GT's, not that I've ever seen.

So if someone couldn't find one in a scrap yard is it still available through the dealer? What sort of gains could be expected with the header?

It would be easyer and maybe even cheaper to use a modified Zetec header.

Is it really that hard to find/mod the GT header to work on the SPI?

The thing about the GT header that I dont like is the odd 4-2-1 design. I think it could flow better if the secondary tubes were a bit shorter and dumped into a larger pipe...maybe a 2.25.
