Our 2003 Ford Focus ZTW began stalling when turning the A/C on, after having disconnected the negative battery terminal to replace the radio. The A/C had run with no problems prior to disconnecting the negative battery terminal. It turned out that a small ground on the wiring harness broke off the negative terminal which caused the stalling. See attached picture of the loose wire.
This is also something people should check if they are having problems with overheating due to the cooling fans not working. I would like to thank my friend Paul Pepin for finding this loose wire.
Let me know if this solution helps any of you.
