Have a 2001 Wagon SE. 2.0 DOHC Ztech.

The engine seems to be making slightly more noise than usual. Slap or maybe more of a chatter? What should I be looking at?

CONFESSION: It has 223,000 miles on it and I don't know if it has ever had the timing belt changed.

Confession might tell the tale, it should be going on it's third belt by now.

Yeah, was wondering if the timing belt needing changed would be a major cause of additional chatter. I'll schedule it ASAP.
