A few months ago I noticed a wire hanging. It was for the engine block heater. I couldn't find where it plugged into so I just tucked it out of the way. Now with winter almost here I would like to get it plugged back in. Does anyone have a picture or can you describe where it plugs into on the 2.0 Duratec?

Thanks

I am not positive, but I believe it would be located in one of the freeze plug locations. That is where it is on the 6.0l diesel. Look at the freeze plug locations, you might find something to plug that cable into.

The part hanging down should be the end that plugs into a wall outlet or extension cord to be more exact. The missing end is hard wired into the freeze plug insert. There is a protective cap over the end of the plug hiding the blades.

It was the end of the cord the goes to the heater that was hanging. I got the whole cord off now. It definitely wasn't hardwired into the heater. I've been looking and don't see anything at all. Would they still have the cord if there wasn't a block heater installed?

There is a very good chance that the heater went bad and the previous owner did not want to spend the money to replace it. Instead a mechanic probably put in a standard freeze plug and just left the cable hanging.
If having a block heater is a recommendation, then I would spend the money and buy one for it, at the same time you will be able to drain and replace the coolant.
I do know that block heaters are more expensive than a freeze plug.
