Hi All,

Recently my focus LX has developed some electrical issues.

1. Handbrake light stays on although handbrake is not on
2. The indicators work but are not shown on the dashboard (no clicking either)
3. The boot will not open
4. The Car will not lock although all doors are properly closed

Any ideas or advice appreciated! This happened one day about 2 months ago but resolved itself but now its back!

Anything worth checking before taking an expensive trip to the garage?

All these functions are controlled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) located under the dashboard on the passenger's side. There's a thread here with some photos -

Your problem seems to be intermittent so it's unlikely that the GEM is faulty. I would start by checking for any loose connectors / wires and dirty contacts on the GEM.
