Truth or BS. Was suggested that removing battery post after a fuel pump replacement on my 2002 ZTek will "relearn" .Old unit worked but week and progressively bad fuel mileage. Unit will reset to leaner condition and relearn AF based on new pressure and fuel map. Going to give it a try then reset the radio and cruze.

During any work of this nature the battery should have been un plugged...

Removing power for an extended length of time will clear out anything saved in the Volatile memory of the ECU. How much of the fuel maping and trim tables are stored in there vs non-volatile memory I dont know.

But its always a good practice to disconnect the battery and then leave a few lights or other things "on" to help drain any parasitic charges that may be still be present on capacitors that could be still holding the memory.

It can help depending on how pump went bad. Once the computer chases bad parts by trying to adapt it can go into some unusual running modes, it is better to wipe the slate clean to let computer relearn again and with proper working parts. If nothing else bad fuel module codes will be wiped clean.
