Ok, I don't know if this has been posted anywhere but here it goes. How many years before my car gets a smog check? I live in California and I bought my brand new Duratec PZEV Focus back in 2003. now after 100K and five years later they haven't asked me to smog my car. I just pay for the registration and that's it. I want to know because I want to put the header in my car. will it be on the 6th year? Thanks in advance for all your input.

You sure your part of the county smogs? I know San Diego county as well as a few other counties only require emissions testing within certain zip codes.

my county does require that, that's why I think is weird.

I think you have to get one when sending in your registration in 2009, unless I'm reading this wrong.

Starting January 1, 2005, owners of vehicles six or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first six registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification.
