Well I noticed last week that when I roll down my window all the way it made a wierd sound. Now the when I open or close the door it sounds like there is something loose. Now when I roll the window all the way down and then all the way up, once it is fully up there is a very load click sound that seems to hit the glass form inside the door.

Has any one encountered this?

I've heard of this happenning before, usually ends up with the owner removing the door panel and taking a look inside.

So the window rolls up all the way and down all the way, correct? I was going to say maybe it's off track but sounds like it's ok that way. Could be something else, not sure what, that has gotten in the way of the mechanism. Your door locks still work right, as well as the door handle, etc. Asking cause possibly the steel wire/bar controling that to the latch may have come undone and is in the way. It could be some other things.....

I'd end up pulling the door panel and taking a look yourself...... could be catching on the door frame, some other material although it sounds like it's something hard like steel if it makes a banging sound.

Is there any streaks on the window when you roll it up, no rub marks, etc?

So far everything still works fine. Power locks, Power windows, Door functions from both the inside and out side. I have not noticed any streaks in my tint or on the dirty exterior.

The sound that it makes though is loud. It sounds like it is tring to break the glass. Well I guess now I need to pull out my torx and find a tut on removing a door panel.

Yeah I'd take it off before something scratches the window or worse..... one thing I was going to ask was when you are rolling it up, it is going directly in the track up the door? The edges of the window is sliding in that trough for the window......

i had a problem like this before, but i have manual windows.

what was happening was if i had my window down about 3 or 4 inches and i'd open the door there was a really nasty clunk sound.

eventually i got off my lazy duff and i took the door apart.

i found that there is a little clip that holds the glass on that has 2 little arms on it that should be bent up around the glass, like this...

but the problem that was happening was that the second tab wasn't bent up and it would catch on to the stopper on the metal track thing that's attached to the car that goes in and out of the door ( i don't know what it's called) so i couldn't bend it back up with out busting the glass so i just took my dremel to it and cut the tab off and voila! not more clunking

^^ I betcha that is what has happenned..... that rang a bell when you mentioned the tab, pretty sure I read something about that in the past, it made me remember something anyway about it...........

It seems to be running in the track of the door properly. I will look in to the tabs.

i might do the door removal too...
the passanger door back door broke and went all the way down...after several months of a nasty clunck sound when i put the windows all the way down...

a few months ago...
i my drivers windows stated doing a the nasty clunk sound...
it seems like it is going down "too fast"

something doenst seems right...

on my zx4 my back windows have made a clank from day one of buying the thing never took it back to the dealer im to lazy i dont know if its normal or if its just something these focus's do

Does anyone know what size the two screws in the door handel are?

Okay guys here is an update.

I took off the door panel and the foam peices behind it. (really easy btw) And found the peices of some kind of bracket. From the best I can tell it holds the glass when the window is all the way down from hitting the body or when you close the door. The part was broken in three peices. I removed the pieces and the window works fine. all the operations of the door work fine.

But now I am a bit concerned about breaking the glass when I close the door or something. I dont slam my door as it is so it may not be a big deal.

i would just go to an online parts store or go directly to ford and get another peice i wouldent take the RISK of breaking class since i broke glass with the damn safty belt once. lol it cannot be that expensive to get and im sure it easy to install

Talk to Mike (b16sir1991) as he works for FORD PARTS and will be able to get you a part number, if not a replacement for that..............
