I am thinking of replacing the drive belt on my 2007 Focus Wagon SE with a 2.0L Duratec and I was wondering if it is necessary or a good idea to replace the tensioner idler with it as well. Is it really necessary to change it unless there is really something wrong with it .You can buy the whole kit on Rock auto with the belt and pulleys for a 100$.....the only thing I am not really able to determine if it is California Emmisions standard or not....how to determine it properly?Sticker under the hood or workshop manual ?
Thanks in advance.

I cannot speak to the California Emmisions but you should definitely replace the tensioner at the same time as the belt.
