The handles open from the inside with easy, but the driver side doesn't open from outside, and the passenger side has to pulled twice in rapid succession.

What needs to be done to fix this? Is there an entire assembly, or can I just replace the outside handles?

Just curious because we have been averaging below zero and don't want to waste time in the cold unless I know what is happening before hand.

Thanks guys!

Oh it is a 2001 Focus SE, 4-door. We picked it up November 5th and used it to teach my wife how to drive manual. Wife loved it so much she sold her minivan.

Inner door reinforcement usually has a piece that breaks when it gets old. Its about a $30 or so part. Not the easiest thing to replace cuz of tight spaces. Probably pay dealer to do mine cuz I don't wanna mess with it.
