...until you hear 'em.

They sound amazing,
and all it cost was $11 for harnesses (since I wasnt actually using the speakers anywhere.)

Just to clarify, the drivers are from Klipsch ProMedia speakers. Their clarity is amazing. They have zero lowend, but thats ok since I have a subwoofer.

Obviously my mounting method is sickeningly amateur, but this is mostly a proof of concept. Now that I know they still sound fantastic *without* enclosures, I can make adapters for them that make at least a token seal.

Nevertheless, they sound much better than I was expecting, and infinitely better than the stock Audiophile speakers.

I would judge them before I hear them; awesome! Klipsch is a premium sound brand, and I have always wanted some of their speakers in my car! I drew up a plan once to install one of their 10" subwoofers, and speakers from their bookshelf series (75-100W RMS, 300Peak) into the doors, and their amazing horn tweeters in the dash & rear dash .... sick idea, nice job!

also I should note, these can be bought on eBay without the subwoofer for very little money ...

the speakers have screws (pictured) that when removed allow the rear cabinet to come off. I would be kind of scared to blow them with an amp, or that they wouldn't be loud enough for me. I know they won't distort or anything, I'm just saying. Mine are not incredibly loud, and without the sub, you are correct in saying no low end ...

I once did something similar with a cerwin-vega component set. It was a set of DX9 cabinets. I put the 6.5 and horn tweeter in the front in kick panel baffels and the two 15's from the set in the rear of a 93 Escort GT. It really sounded incredible. Not to mention, it was so loud that i couldn't sit in the car and turn it up. Nice job man, that rocks. (and sounds awesome I'm sure.)
