if the mazda 3 computer is the same as the ford focus one?
does anyone know

Short answer: No.
Long answer: It has to deal with the fact that Mazda3's are VVT and have several other key differences between their 2.3 and our 2.3. I really don't feel like typing it all up, however, so I'll let someone else get that if you want it.
