Ya a nother one...

well I've been looking around, thinking and then thinking some more about what action to take next with my car. i'm currently running JRSC with BBK and other mods. My next step was to get a custome tune.

On the other side I'm seeing all kinds of turbo kits and DIY turbo kits. I'm a pretty hands on guy and I know I'd be able to build one from a DIY kit.

Now for my question(s)

My HP goal is to be around 250WHP and 250Tq. I'm looking at the kit that CFM offers. could anyone tell me if they think or know that this kit would get me to my HP and TQ goals with everything done right?
I planned on running a elc. boost controller with this setup enstead of the manual it comes with. I'd also be planning on buying the downpipe that CFM offers as well. Most of the little stuff i have and the rest would just be apart of putting everything else together.

Just some input! I dont know a whole lot about this kit and i know guys are out there running something like this so if they could chime in that would be great and give me your inpions and pointers!!

If i dont end up going this way i'm just gonna get a custome tune with my setup now and move on to something else to build....but i'd like to build the SVT lol

Well since its an SVT you don't have to build the internals to push beyond 12psi like you would with a zetec. That being said the SPA kit is good, just keep in mind you would also need to find someone to tune it for you (or tune it yourself with SCT ProRacer software) which will end up costing you almost an extra grand on top of the hardware. Since you were about to get a custom retune for your JRSC anyway, that may be a moot point.

SPA diy kit is ok but you are gonna have couple missing things to deal with like gaskets and bolts (thats what happened to me) but the downpipe i had it made for me and its a 3in with almost no bent couse im gonna run full 3in exhaust and im using the AEM piggybank for the tune..how will it run? don't know but in bout two weeks i will see

Oh ya i know i'll have parts missing but thats the fun of a DIY kit and I don't mind searching around for parts, that just means I get what I want. and of course i know i'll have to get a custome tune, i know of three shops in my area that can do it so it's not a priority right now.

Well guys if i decide to go this route I will be selling my SC to pick up extra funds to put towards the turbo install... but i'm not here to sell it yet just getting opionions.

I know I don't have to build my engine cause it's pretty stout as is, with that being said I do know the limits of my engine thus why i'm going to stick around the power goal i had mentioned before. i'm starting out small with the turbo then possibly later down the road will more then likly build and go bigger. I had bought this JRSC for the samething...to start out small. it was my first major mod to do to the engine and it was cake, so now I'm looking to step up.

anyone else out there running a SPA turbo/spa kit?

Oh, Poogas. I want to do the same thing, but I'm just working on tuning this setup nicely first. I don't have a real garage yet, but when I do, I'm totally going small DIY turbo. I need to get on this in the next 2 years, though... woman keeps talking about babies, and that sounds expeeensive!

Your screwing up right there...... dont waste your time with that junk. Besides the SVT ecu will learn around the AEM piggy back unit.

The SPA kit will do fine, i help zetecfreak on his spa build (mostly tuning and tech) and it made 240/240 at 12 psi on a stock ZETEC motor.

thats more or less where i want to be around... you said stock ZETEC orange, so does that excludes the SVT ZETEC correct?

Correct that was on a Zetec... a NON SVT..... but it should bolt right up to the SVT.

You may want to look at the kit from Focus Power, it may give you a few more options and will be easier to upgrade when you get greedy!

Yup Focus Power is less expensive, just as good quality if not better. And Tom can make you a downpipe for what turbo you will be using.

Unlike CFM you HAVE to use SPA Turbos.

so what turbo's can u put on the spa manifold? im new to FI and am thinking of getting the focus power DIY.

my power goals are about 200hp/200tq. i dont know that much about turbos but, i do know i want one that spools up fast. FYI this is my DD.

what kind of turbo do you guys suggest?

i was thinking of trying to find one in a junkyard of a random car. what problems would i run into with that route?

Yes I have a very nice DIY kit that has a very large intercooler and a turbo to get you to 350 yet spools very very fast , has the manifold , all piping , both down pipes , intercooler for 1495.00 and turbo with v-band for 675.00

Tom I knew about your turbo kit...but i guess either i didn't remember or realize how good the price was.

you said that it has a very large intercooler. unlike my sig i now have my stock front bumper back on my car, is this going to fit well or what if any kinda mods am i going to have to do?
