Hey everybody, so I was trying to take off my timing belt with my ratcheting pass through wrench and thought I had to take the bolt that holds the tension pully completely off. Well, now my wrench is backed all the way to the body panel/firewall, and I can't start to tighten it again because it only ratchets one way. [hah][hah]

How can I fix my stupid mistake?

Car is DOHC 2000 ZX3

I'm guessing there isn't enough thread exposed to hang the wrench on the threads and tighten the bolt with your fingers or an open end wrench until there is enough space to get the wrench off?

How about drilling a hole in the body for the head of the bolt to pass through to remove the whole bolt?

Cut the bolt?

Cut the wrench?

Pull the engine?

Cut your losses and scrap the car? lol

Not familiar with the Zetec and where you are stuck but a pic might help too...

Put a jack under the motor loosen the passenger side motor mount and move the engine to get clearance?

Pulley bolt or tensioner bolt?

And I'm starting to guess it's the serpentine tensioner?

If it's a pulley bolt maybe you can reach mounting bolt for the assy & remove it?

So update, ended up using a prybar to push the frame from the pulley which gave me enough play to pull the wrench off. Prybars are awesome.
