2002 Svt Focus

Car sat for many years (more than 7 combined) so after basically rebuilding the car I wanted to get as much of the old gas out of it as I could. I did the trick with powering the fuel pump through the fpdm harness, only there were two green with orange stripe wires. Without having any idea which went to the pcm and fuel pump, I ended up powering both of them. Had a 7.5 amp fuse inline.

Now I have no-crank with fast flashing theft light and displays ----- on the odometer. Hooking a scan tool up to the obd port results in no communication. I checked the 20amp fuse and re-did the main ground and cleaned the ecm ground. I did not check the diodes.

The only other thing is before I did the tear down, it would do the pats lockout when the aftermarket was in and not let it crank. Put the stock radio back in and I could crank it. I sold the radio, otherwise I could eliminate that as a possible cause. Almost at wits end with this car.

Unfortunately, yes possible. 2 wires go to the ECU, the monitor and PWM signal wires. I can't recall which color is which in the harness, but I would not want to throw 12v onto those wires back to the ECU. Next time you want to jump the pump, put power directly to the pump itself and bypass the FPDM.

The issue before with the PATS lockout, was it doing the same thing as it's doing now? If so, then it's probably whatever was causing that issue and not this. I would rather find a stock radio than a spare PCM.

Pull battery and put it back by pump using jumper wires only, you can run pump forever with FPDM unattached.

I've had two different aftermarket radios in my non-SVT '02 and no problems at all, they work fine.

Make sure on driver fenderwell the small black/yellow or /orange ground wire is not broken, it can do some of that.

That's what I did, bat was not hooked up to terminals, only green/orange and fpdm ground.

Did you have the audiophile 9006? There is a security bar in it, not sure if it ties into the pats but mine seem to.

I inspected the wires for breaks, only the maf had breaks in some wires so I had to solder new pigtail on.

Ok, I goofed. I thought I had all the grounds hooked up. I missed one that connects to the battery, and it was the PCM ground, thought there was only one wire that went there. Anyway it cranks fine now, but won't start. Has spark but I suspect fuel injectors aren't firing. Pats strikes again? I might make another thread depending.
