I got my FR head in the mail today and im going to get it decked/milled.
im looking to get about .050 shaved off.
i know mlbaseball has his fr head milled .050 but i was just wondering if any one els has this done?

also will the engine now be an interference engine having high lift cams and being decked?

yes interference, so watch your cam timing real close.

I would go with about .040. There's really no reason to go any more than that.

u dont think an extra .010 will increase the compression any more? the extra .010 can make up for the head gasket.

im trying to hit 170 hp and im gonna do what ever it takes to get there.
mlbaseball makes 164hp.

What kind of cams are you running?


Also, what kind of intake manifold are you running?

You are more likely to be limited by the intake manifold, than by the compression ratio.

ill be running crower 2's and may go to 3's in the future.
and im running a 00' intake. i heard they die out past i think 7400 or somthing like that but i dont have the money for a manifold. im getting it dyno tuned at mcnews.

The 00 intake will probably keep you below 170whp, doesn't matter whether you deck the head .040 or .050.

i would like to deck my head but i want to go FI in a couple years.

maybe i could get two heads somehow

unless you know how to do a head swap, it isn't cheap for labor. you could do that, just find a couple of heads from the junkyard, prep one for boost and one for NA. I think a heaad install is in the range of 800 bucks.
