hi all,i have a problem with the speedo and rev counter temp gauge and fuel gauge all going to the maxium on start up then all of a sudden they go back to normal,can anyone point me in the right direction please as to what is wrong,focus 1.6 model year 1999

This is whats supposed to happend if your battery has been disconnected. So first try to clean your battery connections, then look at your ground connections in the engine compartment left side front wing...

thanks for reply,battery hasnt been disconected and had a look and cleaned earth leads,still got problem

Then the next is checking the 2 ground wires on the inner left front wing , if they are bacly corroded. Also measure the voltage on the battery, with engine off, cranking & at idle, and post the outcome of this, it could be a bad battery or a charging problem as well.

Yup it sounds like you have a bad ground in the engine bay.

Anyone know what that lil wire is going to the battery next to the main batt cable. Its a small 16 or 14g wire with an eye let connector.
