Hello all,

(2001 Ford Focus zx3 hatchback)

I'm trying to fix a problem with my dashboard instruments shutting on and off whenever I hit a pothole or bump. As in when I hit a bump hard the dashboard would turn off, then the next time I hit a bump hard enough it will turn on. It has been this way since I bought the car about a year ago, but as of the past month I haven't gotten it to turn back on. This makes me think that it is just a loose wire somewhere that should be easily fixed but I am not too sure.

The weird thing is that while most of the dash is just completely off, some of the lights/warnings still turn on/work such as the seatbelt light and the open door light. Not sure if that narrows down the problem or they're just wire seperately. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

Have a friend sit in your car with it running. Tell your friend to watch for the panel to fail while you wiggle the battery cables. Our batt wires can fail internally very near the batt terminals.
