What are the signs of a damaged cat? I have had a serious misfire on 2 cylinders. Ive replaced the plugs leads and coil to rule everything out and the misfire has gone but now have a bad vibration when idle and the car has some sort of power loss eg flickering lights/dash when coming to a stop/idle. There is also a rattle noise from the exhaust but only when the car is cold ie first thing in a morning for about 20mins

I was told yesterday that when the CAT is going bad your car will smell worst that a fart... also if you check this thread see if maybe this is what you need to fix. I am fixing mine this weekend for the same stumble reason.

if you have a missfire going on you should have some codes.. what are they. Does your car feel major sluggish?
