This is the whole design intent of a refresh -- to have improve the vehicle sales with the smallest investment possible to make the biggest impression -- hence the emphasis on sheet metal changes.Yeah i would consider all the stuff they changed including the engine a pretty big change. oh well.
On a different note, it the rear Control Blade suspension that make these car's handle like they do & the firm steering rack too. The engine wasn't so much change as... an elimination of a host of engine options.
There's an interesting brochure Ford put out that elaborates on the exact changes made in 2005.
