I own a 2001 ZTS with only 157,000. miles. I am the original owner of this auton the rear tires. This is no BS> I have replaced the tires on this unit 8 times due to CUPPING issues on the rear hydes. I've put multiple brand tires on her and it makes no difference. I replaced rear shocks[3] times, rear bushings, had it checked for alighenment several times. I love this old beater, problem being I would like to buy a new one but cannot go through this again. All tire manufactures say they garrentee the saftey performance, not the NOISE! I CAN"T HEAR THE RADIO LESS A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION! Please any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Moved to "Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension - Sponsored By Tire Rack"

take a look at the sticky's at the top of this section. I think some of the toe/camber discussions will help you out.

I had two tires like that on an 03. I installed (2) 1/2 degree camber plates on the back and added one of these to all 4 springs:

Also did my own alignment. Do a search to find a sort of write-up.

Rear bearings FTW. Unless you want to go with a rear disc setup I am sure you could find someone her literally giving away a good condition rear drum setup that will include hubs and bearings.

I had noisy Fuzion tires and just got rid of them. They were on my car when I bought it used last year, and looked fairly new. I put 25k miles on them and were noisy as hell.

Had alignment checked and is right on edge of sepcs, also the struts/shocks are OK. Got new tires for good price and will rotate at 6000 miles. Just Tires will do it free each time and will check alignment then too.

Just glad to have a quieter ride! I never had Fuzion tires before and wouldn't recommend them.

Noisiy Tires,Whew!!!

I've had 2 sets of Fusions, one set of Dunlops, 2 sets of Goodyears, two sets of Firestone Firehawks, and one set of Cooper. They all SUCKED after five thousand miles. I had this car realigned at every tire change along with tri anual rotations. Ford has a cure for this, and in this case all they can say is "Wouldn't you like to trade er' off for a new one?" This car only has 150,000miles on her, barely broke in. I've had Escort GT's that were pushing four hundred thousand. FORD.......Fix your screw up's and grow a pair. Admit it, you have a problem with cupping rear tires.

Again, post your alignment specs up. The "green" specs for the alignment on these cars are ridiculous. Every 6k on rotations is on the edge of pushing it, I'd recommend every 3k or every oil change so it makes it easier.
