Hello,

I have a 2004 Zetec 2.0L and was wondering what the procedures to replace the crankshaft position sensor are. Is it just remove the old and install the new one? Do I need to bring the engine to TDC before removal and new sensor install?

Just remove and replace

Sweet. Thank you. What's the average life on those sensors? Debating whether to replace under regular maintenance or wait until it fails.

I've never seen the sensor fail (not saying it's impossible, just not very common). I have seen the wiring burn through though, since it's close to the exhaust (especially on the SVT). I would check that first before you buy a new sensor.

Well given that my camshaft position sensor is starting to fail, I was curious about the CPS
