My 2001 Focus cranks but won't start. Cranks over just fine, with good battery voltage. I've got spark (plugs, wires and coil under a year old). Fuel pump is pumping volume, however I have no way to measure fuel pressure.

Is there a sensor that would prevent it from starting or do I need fuel system guage?

After some tinkering and some cranking, it started hesitantly with some throttle feathering. I'm starting to lean toward a weak fuel pump maybe. I had a Jeep Cherokee once that would barely run because of a weak fuel pump.

Moved to General Tech Chat

Scan tool for checking codes/data can "see" the reported fuel pressure, easier than trying to install a gauge for a direct reading.

Relies on the sensor, so it isn't definitive. Stil the easiest first check to see if anything there doesn't look right.
