I've got a 2000 Focus ZTS with 173K miles on it. I noticed a coolant leak on the side by the water pump so I changed it. Put it back together and while adding fluid it was still leaking. I noticed it was coming from the back of the water pump housing - so after another disassemble I changed the gasket that goes between the housing and the block. Put it back together again and still had the leak.

I decided to take it apart again - but this time leaving the water pump and water pump housing still attached I added fluid to look for the leak. It turns out its coming out of the slot that the Timing Belt Tensioner hooks into. I'm now afraid that my head is cracked on the inside of this slot.

Anybody else have an issue like this? Any suggestions before I remove the head? Help

Regards,
Jim

yea, when you went to reinstall the water pump did you lace it with that silicone gasket stuff? I did and no leaks w/o it leaked like mad (first time I did it).
