Will a 2.0 out of a 98 contour drop right in a 2000 focus with a blown 2.0? The focus was complete just had dropped valve. Will it work will I need anything?

Both SOHC's and focus is stick and contour is auto tranny...

if im not mistaken wouldnt the contour be a zetec? my 96 is is

Does that mean the wiring has to transfer too?
Going to look at it today so will have whole car. The tranny is shot on it but supposed to run perfect..

It is a zetec with a bad auto. Got it cheap and it runs good so now what do I need to do to get this swap done? The focus is a 2000 with sohc and stick, the contour is a 98 with a dohc zetec and a (slip really bad when warm) auto.
I've read but haven't found a contour to focus swap?? And if I have to do the ecm will it recognize the stick?
Someone please help me get my head wrapped around this...

well idk if anyones dont this exact swap before but i have a manual zetec contour and a auto spi focus so that may be helpful if you need pics or specs from anything once your into it. i can tell you you will need to swap the entire wre harness if you can even use the contour one may have to go to the junkyard and get an entire harness from a focus. what tranmission do you plan on using?

the biggest problem i see with this is whether or not the ib5 will mate to the zetec and what axles you would have to use. engine mounts may have to be custom as well. i hope you have a welder and some fabrication knowledge because if your looking for a plug and play swap i think you will find this was not the right solution for that but im sure it can work

Okay guess I'll shop for a auto for the contour. It runs like a champ has new tires and the nice aluminum wheels and drives perfect.

I'll have to keep looking for a donor for the 2000 focus. Is there a list somewhere that I know what to look for? I wouldn't mind finding a donor with a good auto that will swap in with the dohc or whatever will fit in the focus..

Okay found a 2000 ford focus wagon with a split port. What do I need from this car to complete the swap? Only damage is front hit and radiator is toast. This car is a long ways away so need to get the stuff in one stop.
Asked what he wanted for engine, tranny and wire harness and he said 800 which is high but a start.
