I have a Ford Focus SE 2001 sedan (Street Edition) and my left and right tail/brake lights use just a single bulb (has two lights within it) but above the housing is an extra open socket and light area. my wiring only supports 1 socket.

I see the rest of the Focus on the road with my body style and when they use turn signals, the rears have the extra light above the main tail lights flashing, instead of the main tail light acting as the turn signal.

I cannot see to find a Focus on the road that has my configuration.

the housing is designed for the extra top bulbs but its all empty and my factory wiring does not support it.

Is this odd or was this for 2001 sedans only?

My old 2001 Focus SE had only one bulb too. It may be that Ford did this for only the 01 model year.
