I have a 2001 Ford Focus and my air conditioner compressor is leaking. Instead of replacing it, I was thinking of simply bypassing it with a shorter serpentine belt. Can you do that ? Thanks for a reply

you can also unplug the clutch driver connector on the compressor and it will not try to engage anymore.
Or pull the AC relay, or pull the diode, or pull the AC fuse. That's cheaper than a belt, and later you can fix it when you learn enough about ACs.

That's what I was thinking, pull the connector or the fuse and be done for free before you could even get the old belt off.
