I have a 2011 Focus SEL which has size 205-50-16 tires. I want to buy General Altimax Arctic studded winter tires, but they don't come in this size. I see Tire Rack has them in size 205-55-16, which I think would be compatible since the only difference is the sidewall height is slightly taller,(the speedometer would be off by 2 to 3 mph). Tire Rack is recommending getting them in size 195-60-15, but this would mean having to get 4 new 15'" rims with TPMS sensors, which adds about another $500 to the cost, which I can't afford. Does anyone know if the 205-55-16's are compatible?

The 205/55-16 size will work just fine. Many FF members, including myself, use that size without problems. The speedometer error is actually closer to 2mph based on the difference in tire size.
