Got a 2005 ZX4 ST with a very disconcerting ‘clunk’ if I let off the clutch too fast or hit the gas too hard while at speed. Since my repair budget isn’t huge, is there anything else that this would be other than motor mounts?
Also, if it is mounts, how hard a do-it yourself job is this (1 -10)?

To replace all three mounts is about a 3 of 10 in terms of difficulty.

There are a goodly amount of Youtube videos that walk you through it. Be sure to spend time with those. Know how to support the engine while replacing the mounts and you’ll be fine.

Give the bolts a looksee prior to diving in. If they are rusted, I’d spray them with PB Blaster (or similar) and let them soak before trying to get them off.

Look at the rear lower trans mount first in that case, you may not need the others. The need to change all 3 at once is a myth, I have never ever done it, only the one at fault. Zero issues after.
