I came across a very odd thing on my son's Focus. His cigar lighters or more precisely I suppose 12V outlets aren't working. Done the fuse check and that was fine. So I decided to have a look at the wiring to the socket and was very surprised to see 2 identically coloured wires - brown/white. Check with a meter revealed one was ground but no 12V on the other. 2 questions: 1. Is it normal to have 2 wires of the same colour going into a plug? 2. Any clues where to look to try and resolve lack of 12V?

Many thanks
Paul

What year is the car?
Yes, that is very-very odd. The two wires attached to the power socket (cigar lighter socket) connector are the same color code Brown/White...!!!???
First, we need the car year, and then maybe we need an electrical schematic, to help you further.

BTW - the cigar/power socket is always hot (has power) it only needs a fuse and some wiring to be healthy in the older Focus car types. So, what year is your Son's Focus?
