I have a 2006 Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia.

The dreaded check engine light went on the other day while on the motorway. I noticed that on idling the revs would jump a little rather than run smooth. Other than that the car felt normal. I might have felt a bit of misfiring on acceleration, but may have imagined it because I was paranoid at that point, but in any case it was subtle.

As it was a Sunday I got back home and was going to take it to the garage yesterday. Only when I got into the car, the check engine light was initially on, and then turned off by itself within minutes, and the car feels perfectly normal, idling is smooth.

I thought it was likely to be a spark plug, but can spark plugs just fix themselves?
