My wifes sisters car shows the code PO442---- EVAP Small leak detected
Now the problem is where is the leak coming from. Anyone have any ideas
where to start? I already replaced the gas cap with a new one,so its not that
from what I can tell. Any help here woould be great.

Good news Tom, I found the receptacle. If it had been any closer it would have bit me. I can chock it up on wearing my midrange glasses instead of my bifocals. Anyways, found a hose hissing under the hood, $27 for the hose replacement from Ford, (EGR hose), plugged in the OBD II reader, it went through the process, blinked a couple of times, the fault codes cleared, and the check engine light extinguished. Mission accomplished. Thanks for the directions. Fred

The P0420 has to do with your exhaust. Either you O2 sensor or Cat. The cat has a 100,000 mile warranty. Just thought you all might want to know.

hey, you guys do know that the focus has it built into it right? Hold the odo button, start the car, continue to hold the button till u see ur needles go *WHHEEEEEZE* (go up and down) the second the move, let go. Using the odo button you can cycle through many modes. There will be a time when it will flash DTC then a number or NONE. Check that. This works with almost any ford that has a digital ODO PLease see the original post in the performance forum that reads "The tach you never new you had" Spelled just like that in the SPI performacne forum.

im having problems with my svt a little help please. A truck let go some solid brick and went under the car what a mess. I fixed the ripped apart down pipe and the car ran good for a while but every shift the rpms rocket up and then come back down then the gear kicks in. Dont know whats up, when im on 2nd and then step on it the rpms just go up without the car accelerating it takes a long time to kick in in all the gears. The scanner says p1270 how do u fix that please let me know it would be great cause the SVT NEEDS TO BE BACK ON THE ROAD THANKS

Can anyone help on my svt. A truck carrying solid brick decided to let some go and went under the car what a mess. I fixed the tore up DP and it ran good 4 a while but know evrytime i try to shift the rpms just rocket up with out the car accelerating. Like when im on 2nd and step on it the rpms just go up no pick up from the car. Dont know if its the clutch slipping with the impact of the brick. Also the scanner says p1270 and p0135 how can i fix that. Please can someone help. CAUSE THE SVT NEEDS TO BE BACK ON THE ROAD

You should really get a mechanic to take a good look at it. Things like this are not really a DIY job, especially if there's still damage.

The codes you listed are as follows.....

P1270 - Engine RPM/Vehicle Speed Limiter Indicates the vehicle has been operated in a manner which caused the engine or vehicle to exceed a calibration limit. The engine rpm and vehicle speed are continuously monitored by the PCM. The DTC is set when the rpm or speed fall out of calibrated range. For additional information on the engine rpm/vehicle speed limiter, refer to Section 1, Electronic Engine Control (EC) System , Powertrain Control Software. Wheel slippage (water, ice, mud and snow)
Excessive engine rpm in Neutral
Vehicle drive at a high rate of speed
The DTC indicates the vehicle has been operated in a manner which caused the engine or vehicle speed to exceed a calibrated limit.

P0135 - HO2S Sensor Circuit Malfunction (HO2S-11) During testing the HO2S Heaters are checked for opens/shorts and excessive current draw. The test fails when current draw exceeds a calibrated limit and/or an open or short is detected. Short to VPWR in harness or HO2S.
Water in harness connector.
Open VPWR circuit.
Open GND circuit.
Low battery voltage.
Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
Damaged HO2S heater.
Damaged PCM.
Wiring.
Damaged HO2S heater.
Damaged PCM.


There are some suggestions in the codes above for repair. Seriously though, I'd be taking the car in if you haven't already and not driving it around with that kind of damage. Not very smart.........

OBDII code P0128

Has anyone experienced the code P0128 collant temp below thermostat regulating temp? How many temperature sensors are on the 2004 ZTS 2.3?

My 02 SVT has error code P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 2. Now Im kinda new to working on cars/my car, and I respect the car too much to screw around too much, Im going with personal diagnosis, and paying for labor. But an oxygen sensor(which is what Im assuming it is) doesnt sound that difficult to replace. Being new however Im not fully sure what the other possible causes listed in the description mean, cuz Im noob. A buddy of mine that works at Ford, said this is related to my air intake system?! The one Ive been driving with for the better part of the year with no error codes(sounds like more than 3 drive cycles to me) and Im having difficulty deciding what to do. Im saving all my cash to get some major work down on her, so I want to do this the least expensive way. Can I do this myself? How/what do I need to do for this repair, or should I get pwned at the dealership?
If it is an oxygen sensor, since there will be a turbocharger in the future, should I consider getting a wideband AEM Air/Fuel gauge?(as this comes with an oxygen sensor)

Hey I have a 2001 Ford Focus SE 2.0 DOHC and I've been trying to figure out this problem for months. My engine light is on and my engine idles very roughly only when it is warm (as if it wants to stall, misfires) I got it scanned and the computer diagnosed it with EGR insufficient flow (PO401). Therefore, I changed the position sensor on it (wasn't that) changed the EGR valve and cleaned out all the pipes with intake cleaner (wasn't that). Both my 0xygen sensors have been changed, thermostat + housing has been changed. Im running out of options I need all the help you can give me...!!!!!!!!!!!!
