So my trunk latch broke, but unfortunately, its to the point where there no way I can think of to open it-button doesnt work, key doesnt work, key fob doesnt work,so the mechanism itself is busted. However, I have no clue how to get in otherwise, thanks to ford not putting a flip down button on the seat other than the ones in the trunk. I read somewhere that a guy took off the side guard(the plastic piece between the seat, and the door opening) and theres a hole there that you can reach the cable from-however,Ive found the hole, tried reaching for the cable, think Ive found it,but when I try to pull it it wont budge. Anyone know how to get into the trunk? Thanks

Id much rather have convience over security-the car already has an alarm on it.

For anyone wh has this problem, heres how to at least get into your car: Between the door and the passenger seat, there is a plastic pillar that runs along the door line. It is held in by clips and two screws-using a screwdriver, work out the clips and the screws. Once the panel is removed, there is a whole up top that is covered by the cloth/foam backing that surrounds the trunk bay-if you push on that,it will simply move forward, allowing your hand access to the trunk. From there, feel to the right, against the backside of the seat. You should come across the release cable, and if you follow that more right, the release mechanism. Feel for a metal hook-it is attached to the locking mechanism. Moving down from the hook, grab the right side of the mechanism and pull-it should give way and allow you to pull the seat down.
