well like the title says i'm trying to piece togetehr a block for under 3,000 for a boost happy zx3

my goal is for around 300hp at the wheels. maybe a bit more.

any idea's other than cfm's built block? kind of a last resort. but still open to it.

what your saying dont make sense.
i'm woking with an under 3,000 dollar budget for the lower end.
i dont think i have enough to sleeve a motor and put new rods and pistons in it.

and wth is a block gaurd??

ok you can have a block sleeved for like 1k then pistons range from around 300-400 or you can get alot better depending on company and piston . a block gaurd is to give you a little more strenght in the block for your walls not to crack if running to much psi . so sleeving will prevent that . and also block ggaurd keeps back lot of cooliant from motor witch aint good ....
idk your project not mine but i know what id do with 3 k in a block for sure .
or if you can just build your head . get it port and polished . a motor with good head flow is always a plus

I am not sure what a SVT block runs but you should be able to easily built a block with aftermarket forged pitons of your choice amd eagle rods, focus power main caps for under 3k.

You can't post there yet b/c you don't have enough post. I would advise from threadjacking to sell your part, that tends to upset people. Just an FYI

Back on topic though...Its not hard to get 300whp out of a zetec, many have done it so I am sure he knows what turbo he needs, to reach his goal he will need anywhere from 17-23 psi is a rough estimate.

I hit 326whp at 20psi as you can see below. Thats with a comp turbo similar to a turbonetics super 60stg 3 turbo. There is no need to get exotic on the zetec block.

my plan is to use tom's new stuff.
with my old piping thats in a fed ex truck to me as we speak
(old style blow through FP kit)

most aftermarket pistons i see are .007 oversize. is that gonna need boring of the block to fit? i know to use eagle rods. but is it fine to ise the block and head out of a wrecked focus (there are 14 zetecs including some zx2's in the local yards) i think i only need the block and crank if those check out then i can get a race head and run stock cams with no overlap. or will i come up short with the cams?

yea you deff grab a block from a jyard but ... what if the previous owner beat the hell out of it ? how you know the walls arent cracked . how you know it will start when its assembled . but regardless if the piston rings are gone then replace them with new ones . and idk about that .007 . i think youll need to bore out your block .007 over ....

Why would you want to put sleeves in a cast block ?

All you need to do is get a block , have it checked good if it needs any sleves TRASH IT and get another block , bore it to fit the Forged pistons , Eagle rods , I would do billet main caps ,ARP Studs , balance the rotating assy and you have your short block

I can do you a complete built engine for 3550.00 ready to go to 350HP at the wheels easy

I know the feeling here! I had Tom build my engine and so far so good, I don't think I would trust anyone else! Wise decision my friend!

SVT block, bored .007 over, APR Main and head studs, Eagle/ARP rods, JE or SuperTech pistons, and the FR Head should do you quite nicely, all for under 3k. Someone is selling a SVT block for 500 or 550 I believe I saw recently in the B-S-T forums.

Hit your peek at 300 ? My engines are built to the customers request and have seen and held 700+HP to the wheels

Kinda loud for a newby with 7 post and knows little about building Zetec engines

Why would you need a SVT Block ? You cant do the work I do to these engines and do it for less then 3000.00 , cant be done
