I'm putting on new pads and rotors...I forgot to remove the cap to the master cylinder before resetting the first caliper piston...

I opened it for the second..have I done any possible damage?

There was a post earlier in the week in which a guy blew a seal in the master cylinder because he didn't take the cap off the reservoir before pushing in the piston. After the repair he had lost brakes on two corners and had to replace the master.

I'd GUESS the cautionary tale from that is to be gentle when pushing pistons back in (also do one at a time to help reduce possible spillage, keep an eye on that).
