I am having problems with squeaky breaks! It's irritating the crap out of me so I finially talked myself into just getting new brakes and getting my rotars resurfaced.

Anyways, I don't feel like getting raped up the @$$ by a mechanic to do the work if I could just do it myself. Is changing brakes and taking off the rotars something easy to do? Or is this just better left to the professionals?

Changing brakes is not that difficult if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Remember, if you mess up you may not be able to stop. Is it the front or rear that is making noise? You may not have to change all of them. Do you have a shop manual for your car? If not get one, you should be able to get a shop manual from your local auto parts store. Best to read up and decide if you are capable of doing it yourself. Bolts rust, rotors get seized on, lots of things can happen. You can always buy the parts, then go to a trusted shop and just pay labor, I figure about 2 hours max(hour per side to change pads and rotors). Check with your local dealer, they sometimes have sales on service. Toyota dealer near me was charging $169.00+tax to do front pads and rotors(both sides parts included).
