Were to start. Well In 2003 i bought a new Ford Focus sedan. About three months ago i started to see my brake light flick on and off sometimes. At first I did not make much of it but it started to happen more often until it was always on. So i took the car back to the dealership with less then 14,000 miles on it and they told me that I needed new brakes and rotors on the car and that they would not cover any of the costs. So I got the new brakes and they told me that was the reason why the brake light was coming on all the time. So it has been a month and maybe 600 miles max on the car and the light comes back on and it is again not going off. I took it back in today and I am just waiting for the service center to call me back and tell me "what is wrong with it". I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about this problem before and if anyone has any ideas? Also the fluid has been very low and I have needed to put new fluid in so when i first took the car in i thought it was a leaking brake fluid line but they say that is not the problem. But once again the light is on and the fluid is low and they re filled it a month ago. There is not a reason why the fluid should leak unless there is a leak in the system b/c it is a closed loop system. Any thoughts

do you have ABS and is your e-brake all the way down? That's what gets my brake light to come on......

The fluid will go down in proportion to how much the brakes are worn.
As the pistons expand to take up the slack of worn pads, more fluid is needed to fill the piston bore.

More often than not, when that light comes on, it's because you're low on fluid.

Right but i shouldt have to use a full bottle of brake fluid every month and remeber i only have 14.000 miles and i have a month old pair of pads and rotars. Thats why i dont understand why it goes down so fast

Do you have a manual, or automatic transmission?

If manual, that could be the culprit.
The brake master cyclinder is also the reservoir for the clutch slave cylinder.
"Double duty" so to speak.

And, yes, a bottle of fluid per month is not a good sign...

Yeah i would have a auto which makes it even worse. I gave my car to ford this morning and they still havent called me back yet, so im not sure what they found out yet

just got the call that they say it is my booster and that they need to keep it for a day or two
