I just bought my focus used (a 2000.) The battery light on the gauge terminal keeps illuminating off and on. Is anyone familiar with this? Do you think it might need a new battery or can it be charged? I have a 30 day warranty so I want to make sure I get it taken care of ASAP. Thanks!

that would be a charging problem, nine times out of ten, it signals a poorly working alternator. It could be a battery, or a bad connection, but the likeliest cause is a bad alternator. I'd get it back to them quick, since that's a fairly expensive repair.

my ford dealership quoted me about $500-something for new alternator plus labor.
i said screw that and went off to get a used(12k miles) alternator for $47 and will attempt it myself(and some friends)
