Friend swapped a b16 into his 2000 civic hatch. Motor is supposed to have like 170 hp at the crank and like 110 torque or something. I've ridden in it and my Focus ST feels more powerful. I have a feeling the Civic will win in a drag though because of its peaking HP...what do you guys think?

I do know that my car handles a lot better HAHA!

i raced my buddys crx with b16 swap. i had him all the way till he hit vtec and he pulled about 3 cars on me. but crxs and super light and it was gutted.

So... from what King Crab says and everyone else, you should have him. I would have to agree. Vtec kicks in and he may pull close but he won't have you off the line with the TQ you are putting down vs the Honda motor. even in a 1/4 mile I think stock for stock you would still smoke em', but not by much.

i had him from a dig and all the way till about 6 or when ever his kicked in then he pulled. how ever the 06 si's. they are slow as balls.

KingCrabb what mods do you have on your Focus? Can you beat ST's? Motor Trend got a 15.8 quarter mile out of the ST.

svt header,svt cat,2.5flex,FS cat back,cai,plugs/wires, all motor mounts, tri-ax,180tstat,
i dyno'd 130hp 133lb/tq. i pull top end on my buddys 05' Roush. i dont see many STs in my area.

the 2000 came with a d16 which is a sohc the b16 is a dohc and has a nice vtec mode. depending on the other mods to the civic and if it is gutted it may get you even tho i hate saying it

No gut or anything. We did a couple of pulls, he pulled on me but not too bad. Only thing he has on me is a CAI and exhaust. I bet if I had the same it would have been even.

Is your ST is stock? If it is then you need to mod that thing. It responds to mods so well.

Thanks sleepyboy! Yeah my ST is STock for now. What mods does it respond so well to? I was thinking of having a high flow cat or delete if I can get away with no check engine codes or the car putting out bad smells. No emissions here. I am also planning on a short ram intake and a muffler.

With these mods, will I lose any of the nice low end punch this car has? Or only gain?

i would go race headers the smell is not bad, i would also get new copper plugs and wires, after that i would head for a tune and intake,but with the intake i wouldnt go short ram i would get cold air or get a voolant equivelent

dont believe that [email protected] that tq wins races... because It really doesnt! HP does, period!

tq is only good for several hundred feet, to get your car moving, but who races for 200ft? no body! unless you convince him to! then you would probably win...

the civic hatch weighs in at +/- 2350 lb.

IDK, just because he swapped engine just now doesn't mean he is pulling 170HP instantly to the wheels; not unless he was crazy enough to buy (poly-whateverthecrapdohicky) he is going to have his own $5,000 massage chair [hihi].
