Hoping somebody can help me out, I am after all the information, specifications etc about the ATX used in pre facelift Foci. Mine is a Euro Spec 2002 Focus so I would think it has the same auto trans as the US version, the shifter is even the same but obviously faces the other side so I would say it is a safe bet.

I am looking to get the transmission upgraded, and I want to be able to take all the info to a transmission specialist so they can work out what they think will be best for it.

I've tried the search function but havent really found any good info about the trans itself. I need specs, the name and model of the box etc etc. Basically the more the better.

TIA,,

I'm sorry we're having such trouble helping you out mate. I'd hope that one of our European FF's would have the answer for that. Ford might be building the transmission with the same blueprint in Europe as in the US, but I'd wager that it's probably more durable. IF any new ideas or advancements were tried on the ATX, it would've been done in Europe LONG before it made it to the US. Ford might've started here, but it seems like we're always behind Europe here in the states. I wish I could help you more. The name of the transmission is the 4F27E.

You could try Lentech...http://www.lentechautomatics.com/4f27eproducts.html You could either buy an entire new built auto from them or a built valve body...there are also various parts available from Ford Racing (not sure what the European equivalent would be) such as stronger torque converters. The 4F27E is an overall gutless transmission, at least here in the 'states its not uncommon for someone to be on their second or even third transmission with only ~50,000 miles (about 80,500 KM) on the OD.

Thanks for the lentech link, i have found links to them before but never been able to actually access their site.

I'm not too knowledgable on the trans, but basically i just want to beef it up a bit so it is reliable. I may look at a low boost turbo application down the track, so what would be people's recommendations to get from Lentech? Im thinking that maybe the valvebody is the bit I need.
