so my focus has like 130,000 miles and i was wondering if its a good idea to have a tranny fluid flush? I heard it makes the car drive differently and it isn't good for it. Is this true or not?

It's VERY important to have a tranny flush done. It will change how it runs...because it will run better lol.

I just flushed mine last week and have noticed a world of difference....(considering the fluid coming out was almost "black") --and that was only 60,000 miles since my last flush.

Welcome to FF though.

Has it had one before? 130K is a LOT of miles to do your first flush on. You'll be stirring up a lot of junk in there and there's a chance it could hurt the transmission.

Proceed at your own risk. At this point it may just be better to ride it out until it breaks.

yeah i was thinkin about just letting it go. i dont know if the previous owner ever changed it or not. its not black but its not bright red like it should be. i guess i'll just let it go till the tranny breaks and i'll do a 5 speed swap. thanks guys

do it, and change the filter too.

speaking from experience here. 130k on my first fluid change, and it ran fine till 163k when the front seal blew out. And that was my fault, running too much EPC pressure [?|]

and btw I gained 4MPG by doing the fluid/filter in the trans.

not too hard to do it is like an oil change

cost me $45 for fluid and filter, plus $5 for black RTV if you dont have any.
