I know Sync can read your new texts for you ("Recent text messages"), but is it possible to reply to one as well? If so, how would I go about doing this?

Hi rebelx,

You sure can, as long as your phone is compatible. Here's how:

MyFord Touch: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/send-and-receive-text-message-sync-myford-touch

SYNC: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/send-and-receive-text-message-sync

If you have an iPhone, you may be able to receive texts but not send them. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

Rebecca
Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for the response!

I have an LG G2 (Sprint), which is an Android device. 90% of the time, I don't even get the name of the person sending me the text on the screen, but it does read out loud the latest one I received.

The Focus is a non-MFT model (just regular Sync).

On the link you provided, step 5 is "Replying to text messages when your vehicle is parked

When your vehicle is parked, you can reply to text messages with the radio controls. When the text message displays on the screen, press OK to reply.
- See more at: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/send-and-receive-text-message-sync#sthash.qn9mC2mT.dpuf"

However, I never have the message actually read out on the screen, so I wouldn't even know when to press "OK" to reply.

Furthermore, if I understand correctly, Sync only lets you select from 15 pre-written texts? There's no way to compose your own?

Since I have you here, can you direct me to the Sync app for Androids on Google Play? Is there a general Ford Sync app? I can't tell which ones are legitimate and which ones are not.

And lastly, if you could also take a look at this thread, that'd be great!

We have a few 2013 Ford Focuses (Focusi?) at work and I drive them every now and then. When you recieve a new text there should be a option to reply on the main radio display and you can use the left, right arrows to scroll through some generic replies like "I'm driving" (it will also add "Sent from my Ford" in the text)
There's no real Sync Apps (Android) out there other than the navigation thing I thick.
