I am on the brink of spending $5,500 (less 750 trade-in) for a 2002 focus zx5 with 85,000 miles/automatic/very clean; but the dealer says he has been working on the AC for two weeks now - says he still needs a part. I am wondering if there is something else bad wrong with the car, that he is still trying to fix.

And, I would like to know how it is in the snow. It does not have abs.

Thank you all for yoru help!

My Focus handles pretty good in the snow with Hiperformance all seasons and even better after I got winter tires. I also do not have ABS, Just don't mash on the brakes when it's slippy out
It's not a SPI right?

Maybe shop around, for $5500 you might find a different one that doesn't have an AC problem. But then again if you wait for them to fix the AC you would have a car with a freshened AC system

For $5,500 you can get a clean 03/04 SVT with less miles than that. I'd walk.

Sounds like a base model car that I'd pay $3k max for.
