I have been trying to find an upgrade shock/strut for my car. I use the car all day for work sometimes, driving out in the country back roads. I ran across the Bilstein HD B6 and was wondering if anyone has any input on these or anything comparable. They are a bit expensive so I really need to make an informed decision. Thanks!

A Bilstein HD would be the best OE replacement shock you could buy. They'll easily last 100,000 miles so figure these will outlast two sets of pretty near any other shock (keep that in mind when considering the price). They are a very heavy gauge (thick wall) monotube shock with over-sized pistons and shafts (incredibly durable) with precision valving (which can be re-valved and rebuilt if desired, although it's not cheap to do so). In other words they can be pretty versatile. I currently have them on my Miata and would love to find a set for my Mazda6. They're generally intended to be used with stock length springs although they work with modest drops.
