Today by me it was kinda rainy and damp so i decided to try and spin the new tires a little bit. Rev'd her up to about 4-5k and let out the clutch and the rpms just kept climbing and was moving very slow. It felt like the tires should of been smoking like crazy..but no spin. I did this a couple times and same out come. It seems fine in all gears. But when i try to get on in a bit this happened. I usually shift at 2900 rpms and its fine. Any possible way a ford TSB could cover this? I even have one of those guardian warranties but according to their site clutch is not covered.[?|] I will have to look at my actual warranty paper to be sure. I hope I can still ride out my clutch for a while because I really dont have the funds to throw that much cash into my car right now because of the holidays coming up.
Edit: My car have 47700 miles on it.

yea start saving your pennies. you can still drive your car for a while but know it will be very annoying and you will only be able to lightly press down on the gas peddle. I drove around for 2 months like this and it sucked, everytime i tried to pass a slower car i would smash the throttle and go nowhere.

I just got done taking it for a spin and it seemed to shift well. I was not babying it either or hard on it. Just driving it like I normally do. Hopefully it will just keep on keepin on until I save up the cash. Time to do some clutch shopping! [V]

here is the best way to tell if your clutch is going, from a stop start driving and shifting real early, say 2000 rpm and be doing like 25mph in 4th and floor it. If she just bogs down and goes your good, if she revs and goes no where you need a new one.

^^^ I just got back from testing that out. At first it just bogged down and was slowly going then the rpm's started goin up real quick. I will just take it easy with the car and go from there...
Thanks for the help focusdarko.

You can probably nurse the car for a couple weeks but start researching what clutch and flywheel you want. Focussport has a good price on the Luk clutch and flywheel.
I just got back from a 300 mile trip and the clutch didnt slip to bad. Only when i was in 6th and tryin to pass or accelerate using the cruise button. I have been researching clutches for my car and i have decided on the LuK Repset 07-175. Thanks for the heads up on the price at focussport. I just have to bring my ride to my mechanic to get a price on the install of the clutch. [mecry]

Well you have to get the flywheel too. I had to do mine and I didnt know about the flywheel. Ford ended up telling my mechanic that he has to buy a new clutch and flywheel. Luckly my mechanic stuck to his original estimate on the clutch but still had to add in the flywheel and labor. I got the Luk clutch kit with flywheel and it ran me 1700 with labor. Although my mechanic kinda screwed me....[boxface] ya.... that suckd.
I babied mine for about two weeks and than it gave completely out. When the mechanic took it out and showed me the pressure plate. Their were no pads on one side.

So is the Luk kit junk? Or was it something the mechanic did? Or was it a faulty pressure plate?

No the LUK clutch is basiclly the replacement for a STOCK feel clutch only better. I just had my LUK kit put in 800kms ago and it is great. I think the kit that the other member had put in could have been defective. The first kit I had put in, the Throwout bearing was screwed, and they had to replace the whole thing. IMO the LUK is the best option as it has the Flywheel/clutch and pressure plate and Master Slave cylinder all together.

Hope this helps

No my original clutch went completly out and I had it replaced with the Luk clutch. Ya it is basically a small step up from the stock clutch. You have alot less play in the clutch petal. I noticed a big gain in grab from the new clutch. It grabbed alot quicker and alot better.
No the mechanic just raped me on labor. It was about the best mechanic around here though, and i have like a 5000 mile warrenty on labor from them and than i think some type of warrenty on parts.
The flywheel was a faulty design on the original. Not anything else, they told me it would cause premature failure.
Its all around a pretty s[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]*y situation

i bought a svt focus about 3 months ago and know i notice a small rattle when i let the clutch out at idle. is this normal i took it back to the dealer where i got it from and they said it was normal. they said a shield on trans was causing it. my friend owns his own shop and looked up tsbs and it said these clutches wear out easy. i have 40k miles. thanks for any help

Oh ok, thanks boarder. Well i am getting a pro-rated refund of my extended warranty that I bought with the car. I paid 1550 for it about a year ago and put less than 9k miles on it. So hopefully i might get 1k out of that. I brought my car to the shop to get an estimate, he quoted me 1700! Where ever he is getting his parts is ridiculous! He one place he called wanted a 1000$ just for the fly wheel. The price he gave was for a centerforce clutch/ flywheel(installed). BUT I guess they are on backorder! Once I have the cash in hand i will go back to him with a print out of the Luk rep set kit to show to him. Well that was my little clutch issue update. Thankfully my car still drives because I probably won't have the cash until next week to get it repaired.

I am not an expert at all on this but... It could be the clutch TSB or the previous owner could of had an aftermarket aluminum flywheel on there. That would cause the chatter.

Mine rattled way back when, I took it in under the original warranty and they performed the repair listed under the TSB. It was great, for awhile, then the rattle came back. Functionally, however, the operation of the clutch and the shifter has not changed at all in spite of the rattle returning and that was years ago. However, I don't do crazy shit like try to burn out in the rain by dropping the clutch at 5,000 RPM's. I barely even drive the car at all, so maybe that's why. [rolleyes]
